HOW ITS WORKS

How The Cross Layer System Works

One system that adapts through the seasons using interchangeable layers.

Stop buying multiple rugs every season.

Use one system that adapts instead.

Step 1 - The foundation

Outer rug. All-season protection.

The Cross Layer Turnout Rug forms the foundation of the system.

A waterproof and breathable outer layer designed for comfort, movement, and durability.

Step 2 — Adapt for summer

Add the breathable mesh layer.

The Cross Layer Mesh Rug can be zipped into the turnout rug as a wicking liner, or used independently as a cooler or travel sheet.

Step 3 — Prepare for winter

Zip in a thermal liner.

When temperatures drop, add a thermal liner to provide insulation while maintaining the same consistent outer fit.

Step 4 - Extend Protection

Add the detachable neck.

Pair it with any liner to match changing conditions and extend coverage when needed.

Why traditional rugging creates clutter and compromise

Most horse rugs are designed for a single condition — one weight, one use, one moment in time. Over a season, this leads to multiple rugs, repeated changes, and constant decision-making.

The result is clutter in the tack room and compromise in daily care, often at the expense of consistency and comfort for the horse.

Why The System Works

Designed with materials, movement, and real-world use in mind.

  • Horse wearing a black rug in an outdoor setting with a wooden fence and trees.

    Movement

Designed to move with the horse, no restrictions.

  • Horse wearing a dark raincoat with a reflective strip on a blurred outdoor background

    Breathability

    Regulates temperature

  • Black horse rug with a logo on the chest against a blurred background

    Durability

Built to withstand turnout, mud, and daily use.

  • Horse wearing a dark blanket with straps on a blurred natural background

    System

One integrated system, not multiple compromises.

Performance Equipment

Designed for durability, movement, and real-world use.

Our overreach boots with interchangeable straps are built with the same principles as the Cross Layer system.

Replaceable straps extend product life, reduce waste, and maintain performance — even in demanding conditions.

Because durability shouldn’t end at the weakest point.

Proven in real conditions

Real feedback from daily use, changing conditions, and real environments.

  • “You can really see the level of thought that’s gone into this rug.

The layering system works brilliantly, and every detail feels considered.”

    — Holly L. and Bonnie

  • “These boots have got him through winter like nothing else we’ve tried.

They’ve held up where others haven’t.”

    — Abbie C and Big Al

  • “The Cross Section Modular Rug has completely changed how we manage her through winter.

We’ve always struggled to keep her warm through winter, often needing to double rug — but not anymore. She’s been consistently warm, comfortable, and settled.

The liner system is incredibly easy to use. I wouldn’t go back.”

    — Sophie H. and Marlie
